Sylvester Sede is a media professional with over a decade of experience in creative innovation, media productions, advertising and media content development. A former radio and television broadcaster and producer trained by the Alpha Institute of Broadcast and Communications, BBC Media Action, Talking Drum Studios in Sierra Leone, Radio Netherlands Training Center, Hilversum, Netherlands, International Business Management Institute, Berlin, Germany and the British Arts Council.
His first venture into the media sector was as a broadcaster/producer with Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM. He went ahead to work as Search for Common Ground’s Media Specialist and Coordinator where he managed the media projects of the organization mainly in the Niger Delta. He currently consults for several individuals and organizations both locally and internationally. In 2016 he became the first Bayelsan to be awarded the Mandela Washington Fellowship, a leadership initiative of Barack Obama where he studied at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA.
Sylvester Sede is part of a vast network of young leaders across Africa, he is the Founder/CEO of Silverflame Media Ltd, Founder of Creative Arts for Peace Initiative, a Co-founder of Startup Bayelsa and a Senior Special Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on New Media.
In his quest to make impact with very scarce resources, in 2015 he initiated and launched an online radio platform “Flamez Radio” which operated from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to different part of the world, the online platform was shut down in the early parts of 2016 due to technical challenges and unavailable resources. On April 4, 2021 Silverflame Media launched its online television studio “Silverflame TV” with equipment that allows live online broadcasting with multiple set backgrounds, the studio was also opened to public users who could pay for sessions to be live on the internet using the studio equipment and internet facility with professional cinematography and online editing.
Sylvester Sede is a member of media professional bodies including the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). He is an idea merchant and has led several initiatives including Project Open Mic, Bayelsa’s Got the Talent, Sports and Arts Festival for Disabled People, the Bayelsa Food and Art Festival and many more. He has also been actively involved in projects like Speak Up Bayelsa, Niger Delta CEOs Summit, The Gathering, Bayelsa Media Awards and several others.
